A decade ago, entertainment events in Bhopal generally meant flowing booze and snacks, men sitting separately from women, loud banter which grew louder and more disconnected as the party progressed, with the effects of alcohol taking precedence. With mass media sources such as MTV and Channel V reaching out to more and more people and exposing them to the charisma of the entertainment arena, clients are progressively becoming more aware of page 3 parties and consider it the ‘in’ thing. Many of them attend similar parties in the metro cities and aspire to bring the culture to Bhopal as well. “Dancing and Socializing are a part and parcel of every party, but it is the dress code that gets youngsters into the groove with shopping for the apt costume. It gets them on their toes before a bash,” Says S Vijay Kumar, Group Head, PR Solution (Events).
With infrastructure and the number of companies growing in Bhopal, event management as a business is on the rise. “Improved infrastructure is a platform for more events to take place,” feels Emma.
The set-up is done with perfection and the shows are managed professionally. The menu provides a great assortment of food items and drinks for the health conscious as well as foodies. The layout of the spread is highly appetizing and appealing.
Occasional goof-ups show that the industry has a long way to go. Corporate houses and party throwers are still in the process of learning the art of briefing the organizers as to what exactly is expected out of them. “Throwing a theme party is expensive. Even though clients want us to organize theme parties, they don’t want to spend much on it. Most of the times they just want an enchanting décor,” says Mohsin Syed of ‘Rings and Rose Pvt. Ltd.’
