An Endearing Journey

Oh how those pale blue walls
The sweltering heat
The scorching Sun
Made me want to run away
To the comfortable boundaries
The familiarity of home.

An inimitable four years of your life, it would be
Or so they said
But all I could see
Were myriad insects galore
The enduring power-cuts
And so much more.

A confused teenager following the crowd
Was all I came in as
Expecting nothing much
But to get done with Engineering
And move back to a city
As soon as I would pass.

The world was waiting to be explored
A voyage left hanging
While I was stuck in a barren land
Amidst unfamiliar faces
Unnerving course load
And no place to go.

A bitter-sweet journey it has been
Which was triggered with
Getting shouted at by the Dean
And threatening to be thrown out
For the callousness
Of not signing a registration form.

The silliness in me had decided
That deliberating into Science
Was for the buffoon
That the next four years would be a vacation
For a job was assured
Being a BITSian.

The halls of ivy change you
I had heard
I couldn’t agree more
Having come a long way
From dozing off in the library
To dreaming of changing the world.
